Rewrite a paragraph in a macOS Preview and Print PDF

Replace a whole paragraph and keep the page design: the new text reflows in the paragraph's own font and width. This works on the PDF macOS Preview and Print exported, so you do not need the original file.

  1. 1.Open the PDF exported from macOS Preview and Print in MythosPDF.

  3. 3.Press Enter to save the line, then Export PDF.

How macOS Preview and Print writes PDFs

  • • Uses the macOS PDF engine with subset fonts.
  • • Fonts are often Apple system fonts.

What that means when you rewrite a paragraph

  • • Letters already embedded are reused; for new letters in Apple fonts, you choose whether to use a close open font.
  • • macOS Preview and Print often uses fonts that are not freely available. Letters already in the PDF are reused exactly; for a letter it never used, MythosPDF asks before using the closest open font and tells you which one.

What happens to the rest of the page

  • • Pasted text arrives as plain text, so it takes the paragraph's style instead of the clipboard's.
  • • Shorter text pulls the content below up; longer text pushes it down.

Questions people ask

+Can I paste text from Word?

Yes. It is pasted as plain text and set in the paragraph's own font.

+Is it better to edit in macOS Preview and Print?

If you have the original macOS Preview and Print file and a lot to change, yes. For quick changes to the PDF itself, editing the PDF is faster and keeps it exactly as sent.
