Change the title in printed Times New Roman text

Rename a report, proposal, ebook or poster by editing the title on its cover. In a Microsoft Print to PDF file, Times New Roman letters are often drawn shapes. MythosPDF turns them back into Times New Roman text before you edit.

New letters in Times New Roman

  • • Times New Roman is usually recognised automatically: MythosPDF keeps Liberation Serif, the open font with identical letter widths, on its servers and matches the printed shapes against it.
  • • Letters you type that the printout never used are set in Liberation Serif, so they match Times New Roman in width.
  • • Letters that are already on the page are reused exactly as printed.

What that means when you change the title

  • • Letters you type that already appear in the printout, in the same font, are copied from its own letter shapes, so they print identically.
  • • A letter the printout never used comes from the identified typeface. For fonts that are not openly available, MythosPDF asks before using the closest open font.
  • • After export, the recovered text can be selected, copied and searched, which the printout could not do.

Open fonts closest to Times New Roman, measured

  • • Tinos Bold: similar widths
  • • Tai Heritage Pro Regular: loosely similar widths

Questions people ask

+Does this change the file's title in the viewer's tab?

No. That is the file's metadata. This changes the title printed on the page.

+Will the page look different after recovery?

No. The rebuilt text uses the document's own letter outlines, and every page is compared with the original before you edit.
