How Microsoft Word prints

  • • Printing from Word sends the laid out page to the driver, so the PDF looks exactly like the print preview.
  • • Microsoft 365 uses Aptos by default; documents from before 2023 usually use Calibri or Times New Roman.
  • • Tables print as lines drawn around positioned text.

What that means when you edit a table cell

  • • Printed tables are lines drawn around text. After recovery, rows and cells are found from those lines and the recovered words.
  • • After export, the recovered text can be selected, copied and searched, which the printout could not do.

What happens to the rest of the page

  • • Right aligned numbers grow to the left so columns stay lined up.
  • • Longer text wraps inside the cell and the row grows.

Questions people ask

+Can I fill an empty cell?

Yes. Click inside the empty cell and type.

+Why can't I select text in my Microsoft Print to PDF file?

The driver often draws every letter as a shape instead of writing text. MythosPDF reads those shapes and turns them back into real text before you edit.

+Is it better to reprint from Microsoft Word?

If you still have the Microsoft Word file and a lot to change, yes. For a quick fix to the PDF you already have, editing it is faster.
