Change a word in a scanned newsletter from a phone

Swap one word for another right on the scanned page, in the same printed look. Camera foreshortening is fitted as a horizontal scale on each line, and the paper grain around the word is kept, so the new word sits in the photo like the old one.

Scanning with a phone

  • • Phone scanners photograph the page, straighten and crop it, and save the image into a PDF.
  • • Photos carry perspective, uneven light and JPEG compression, and some apps add a hidden OCR text layer.

Questions people ask

+Can I change several words at once?

Yes, if they are on the same line. Click the first word and Shift+click the last.

+What if a word cannot be changed invisibly?

You get the exact reason, such as a stamp in the way or a font that could not be identified, instead of a smudged page.
