Add a table column in a LibreOffice PDF

Insert a column to the left or right of any column of a table. This works on the PDF LibreOffice exported, so you do not need the original file.

How to do it

  1. 1.Open the PDF exported from LibreOffice in MythosPDF.
  2. 2.Click a cell in the column next to where you want the new one.
  3. 3.Choose Left or Right, fill in the cells, then Export PDF.

How LibreOffice writes PDFs

  • • Export embeds subset fonts, often Liberation or DejaVu.
  • • Paragraphs are written line by line.

What that means when you add a table column

  • • LibreOffice's default fonts are open, and Liberation fonts have the same widths as Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New, so edits match exactly.

What happens to the rest of the page

  • • The new column's borders follow the table's own.
  • • Columns share the table's width, so check that long values still fit.

Questions people ask

+Can I delete a column?

Yes. Open the delete menu on a cell and choose Delete this column.

+Is it better to edit in LibreOffice?

If you have the original LibreOffice file and a lot to change, yes. For quick changes to the PDF itself, editing the PDF is faster and keeps it exactly as sent.
