Fix a typo in a Apple Keynote PDF

A single wrong letter is the most common reason to edit a PDF. Fixing it should change that letter and nothing else. This works on the PDF Apple Keynote exported, so you do not need the original file.

How to do it

  1. 1.Open the PDF exported from Apple Keynote in MythosPDF.
  2. 2.Put the cursor on the wrong letter, delete it and type the right one.
  3. 3.Press Enter to save the line, then Export PDF.

How Apple Keynote writes PDFs

  • • Each slide becomes a page.
  • • Uses the macOS PDF engine with subset fonts.

What that means when you fix a typo

  • • Text boxes edit independently. For Apple fonts, new letters come from the PDF itself or, with your permission, a close open font.
  • • Apple Keynote often uses fonts that are not freely available. Letters already in the PDF are reused exactly; for a letter it never used, MythosPDF asks before using the closest open font and tells you which one.

What happens to the rest of the page

  • • Only the words you touch are rewritten. The rest of the line keeps its exact position and spacing.
  • • If the correct letter was never used anywhere in the file, MythosPDF loads the complete font so the letter matches.

Questions people ask

+Will fixing one letter move the rest of the paragraph?

Only if the word gets wider or narrower. Then the words after it on that line shift by exactly the difference, and nothing else moves.

+Is it better to edit in Apple Keynote?

If you have the original Apple Keynote file and a lot to change, yes. For quick changes to the PDF itself, editing the PDF is faster and keeps it exactly as sent.
