Why the font changes when you edit a PDF

SymptomYou change a word in a PDF and it appears in a different, plainer font than the text around it.

•The embedded font is a subset that lacks a letter you typed, and the editor silently switches fonts.
•The editor converts the page to its own format and back, substituting fonts along the way.
