Rasterization
Turning vector content like text and shapes into a grid of pixels.
Every PDF reader rasterizes pages to show them on screen. Some tools also rasterize pages permanently, replacing text with a picture of text.
Permanently rasterized text can't be searched, copied or read by screen readers, and gets blurry when zoomed.
