DPI (dots per inch)
Image resolution: how many pixels are used per inch of the printed page.
Screens look good at around 96 to 150 DPI; printing usually wants 300 DPI.
A photo's effective DPI in a PDF depends on its pixel size and how large it's drawn on the page.
