Fix a typo in a cover letter PDF
A cover letter is mostly the same from one application to the next. The parts that must change, like the date, the hiring manager, the company and the paragraph about the role, can be edited straight in the PDF. A single wrong letter is the most common reason to edit a PDF. Fixing it should change that letter and nothing else.
How to do it
- 1.Drop your PDF into MythosPDF and click the text you want to change.
- 2.Put the cursor on the wrong letter, delete it and type the right one.
- 3.Press Enter to save the line, then Export PDF.
What people change in a cover letter
- • Date and recipient address
- • Hiring manager's name in the greeting
- • Company name throughout the body
- • The paragraph on why this role
- • Your signature above your typed name
What happens to the rest of the page
- • Only the words you touch are rewritten. The rest of the line keeps its exact position and spacing.
- • If the correct letter was never used anywhere in the file, MythosPDF loads the complete font so the letter matches.
Catch the classic mistake
Sending a letter that still names the previous company is common and costly. After editing, use Compare to see every change and search the text for the old name.
Stays one page
When a paragraph grows, the lines below move down by exactly the extra space. If the letter spills onto a second page, trim a sentence or tighten line spacing slightly.
Questions people ask
+Will fixing one letter move the rest of the paragraph?
Only if the word gets wider or narrower. Then the words after it on that line shift by exactly the difference, and nothing else moves.
+Can I sign my cover letter?
Yes. Press Sign in the editor and place your signature above your typed name.
