Edit an Adobe InDesign newsletter PDF
Newsletters are built in columns, and a late correction shouldn't break them. Fix the typo, update the date or swap the photo and the columns stay as designed. If it was made in Adobe InDesign, you can edit the PDF itself. Kerning and tracking are kept around your edit. Many InDesign fonts are commercial, so new letters come from the PDF or, with your permission, a close open font.
How to do it
- 1.Open the newsletter PDF exported from Adobe InDesign in MythosPDF.
- 2.Click the text you want to change and type.
- 3.Press Enter to save, then Export PDF.
What people change in a newsletter
- • Issue date and number
- • Article text corrections
- • Photo swaps
- • Event listings
- • Links to sign up pages
How Adobe InDesign writes PDFs
- • Fonts are embedded as subsets, often OpenType CFF.
- • Text frames can be threaded across columns.
- • Precise kerning and tracking are written into lines.
Multi column text
Each column is edited on its own; a longer correction rewraps within its column.
Check before you send
Compare the corrected newsletter with the previous export to be sure only the intended text changed.
Questions people ask
+Can I add an article?
Short additions fit with Shift+Enter; a full new article is better added in the design file.
+Will links still work?
Yes, and you can add or change links too.
