Kerning
Adjusting the space between specific pairs of letters, like A and V, so text looks evenly spaced.
Fonts contain kerning pairs that tighten or loosen spacing for letter combinations. In PDFs, kerning usually appears as small numbers inside TJ arrays.
Tracking, by contrast, changes spacing uniformly across a whole run of text.
