Add a line of text in a cover letter PDF
A cover letter is mostly the same from one application to the next. The parts that must change, like the date, the hiring manager, the company and the paragraph about the role, can be edited straight in the PDF. Add a line inside an existing paragraph, address or cell, in the same style as the text around it.
How to do it
- 1.Drop your PDF into MythosPDF and click the text you want to change.
- 2.Put the cursor where the new line starts and press Shift+Enter.
- 3.Type the line and press Enter, then Export PDF.
What people change in a cover letter
- • Date and recipient address
- • Hiring manager's name in the greeting
- • Company name throughout the body
- • The paragraph on why this role
- • Your signature above your typed name
What happens to the rest of the page
- • New lines belong to existing text blocks and follow their style and spacing.
- • Text boxes on empty parts of the page are not supported.
Catch the classic mistake
Sending a letter that still names the previous company is common and costly. After editing, use Compare to see every change and search the text for the old name.
Stays one page
When a paragraph grows, the lines below move down by exactly the extra space. If the letter spills onto a second page, trim a sentence or tighten line spacing slightly.
Questions people ask
+Can I type anywhere on the page?
Not in empty space. New text is added to an existing text block so it matches the document.
+Can I sign my cover letter?
Yes. Press Sign in the editor and place your signature above your typed name.
