Overleaf resume: add a certification to your resume

List a certification you just earned, under the right heading. This works on the PDF Overleaf exported. Small fixes to bullets, dates and links can be made in the PDF with kerning kept. Large rewrites are cleaner in the source.

How Overleaf writes resume PDFs

  • • pdfTeX embeds Type1 fonts such as Computer Modern or Latin Modern.
  • • Kerning and ligatures are written into each line.
  • • Resume classes draw rules and align dates with precise spacing.

What happens to the rest of your resume

  • • The new line copies the style of the line above it.
  • • Only list certifications you actually hold.

Questions people ask

+Where should certifications go?

Under their own heading or in education, whichever your resume already uses.

+Is it better to edit in Overleaf?

If you still have the Overleaf version and a lot to change, yes. For a quick fix to the PDF you already sent, editing the PDF is faster.
