Change the year in a newsletter PDF

Newsletters are built in columns, and a late correction shouldn't break them. Fix the typo, update the date or swap the photo and the columns stay as designed. Roll a document over to the new year: update the year in headers, footers, dates and copyright lines.

What people change in a newsletter

  • • Issue date and number
  • • Article text corrections
  • • Photo swaps
  • • Event listings
  • • Links to sign up pages

What happens to the rest of the page

  • • Repeated headers and footers are separate text on each page, so edit each page's copy.
  • • Tabular digits keep columns of years lined up.

Multi column text

Each column is edited on its own; a longer correction rewraps within its column.

Check before you send

Compare the corrected newsletter with the previous export to be sure only the intended text changed.

Questions people ask

+Is there a find and replace?

Not yet. Edit each occurrence; each keeps its own layout exactly.

+Can I add an article?

Short additions fit with Shift+Enter; a full new article is better added in the design file.
