LaTeX resume: update your job title

Got promoted or want your title to match the job you are applying for? Change it right in the PDF. This works on the PDF LaTeX exported. Small fixes to bullets, dates and links can be made in the PDF with kerning kept. Large rewrites are cleaner in the source.

  2. 2.Select the old title and type the new one.
  3. 3.Press Enter to save the line, then Export PDF.

How LaTeX writes resume PDFs

  • • pdfTeX embeds Type1 fonts such as Computer Modern or Latin Modern.
  • • Kerning and ligatures are written into each line.
  • • Resume classes draw rules and align dates with precise spacing.

What happens to the rest of your resume

  • • The title keeps its bold or colour, so it still stands out.
  • • The date on the same line stays where it is.

Questions people ask

+Can I change the title on one job only?

Yes. Each line is edited on its own.

+Is it better to edit in LaTeX?

If you still have the LaTeX version and a lot to change, yes. For a quick fix to the PDF you already sent, editing the PDF is faster.
