Microsoft Word resume: update your job title
Got promoted or want your title to match the job you are applying for? Change it right in the PDF. This works on the PDF Microsoft Word exported. Word resumes edit cleanly: bold titles, italic dates and bullets are recognised. Calibri and Cambria have open clones with identical widths; Aptos gets the closest open font only with your permission.

How Microsoft Word writes resume PDFs
- • Save as PDF embeds only the letters used, as subset TrueType fonts.
- • Each run of formatting is written as its own piece of text.
- • Tables and rules are drawn as lines around positioned text.
What happens to the rest of your resume
- • The title keeps its bold or colour, so it still stands out.
- • The date on the same line stays where it is.
Questions people ask
+Can I change the title on one job only?
Yes. Each line is edited on its own.
+Is it better to edit in Microsoft Word?
If you still have the Microsoft Word version and a lot to change, yes. For a quick fix to the PDF you already sent, editing the PDF is faster.
